I tried.. i success to use the 6.4 version classic to work (video and audio)on programefile\windows media player\ by the way i got the 7 version on programfiles\microsoft\mediaplayer7, its working, but it seem not able to play video (i see only the sound). Where is supposed to be 6.2 version installed? if i launch mplayer2. its opening the 6.4 version classic. if i launch (on vista compatibility seems to work better than 98/ME) i can open file but the WMP is 7.01 version and not able to launche video too.

Are you running WMP 7 in compatibility mode?

I tried 98/me and vista and xp WMP7 itself should not be ran in compatibility mode. Also make sure you have Media Features enabled but Windows Media Player disabled.

I would suggest try using a codec pack like K-Lite, but I have that installed and got the same thing as you when I tried out WMP7 on W10. That's even with trying different codecs. My advice would be to stick with 8 and above.

Strange. Try not using any codec packs.

The skin for media player 9 has some issues, is there any way to make the original usable on Windows 10?
