More generally, it is not easy to make a modified Aerolite theme work. Here is the correct method: - Copy the entire folder "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\aero" into a personal folder (like the Desktop or the Documents folder), with all the elements inside. - Delete from the copied folder all the contents of the hidden VSCache folder (it is also possible to delete aero.msstyle). - Edit aerolite.msstyle in the copied folder with MSStyleEditor (I don't know if it works with RessourceHacker or another resource editor, I've never tried). In MSStyleEditor, it is possible to test the visual style (with some display problems of the buttons, which will not appear when it is applied by the system) - Make sure that the modified aerolite.msstyle file is still called aerolite.msstyle - Rename the copy of the aero folder - Drop this folder in "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes" - Create a theme file that points to the modified aerolite visual style (so "C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes\SomeName\aerolite.msstyle") - Apply this theme

What i want that it looks like: Whta it is currently: I found out after trying a minimal server variant that the base theme looks not as bad as the default one but the window borders are not so nice.

Because there are no window borders in your version, it looks like Windows 11 without the rounded corners. On Windows 10, aerolite contains window borders, like in Windows 8. Regarding the title bar button borders, it is probably possible to remove them.

I dont know which 11 version it is, i believe 23 h2. Did change Shell to WinXShell and loaded retrobar and openshell on top of it. While SCT provided usable result on windows 10 and early 11 now it seems to broken to be usable.
Windowblinds runs, but its scaling so funny i dont like it for a basic theme.
A rounded softened gradient theme looks accetable on it tough.

bluedxca93 Indeed, WindowsBlinds reduces performance a lot, it is not recommended to use it. Concerning the classic theme, it is usable correctly in Windows 11 23H2, you just have to install some Windhawk mods.

I had now time to try out your theme replacement howto. And its crazy how easy it works. Just intend to work on the retorbar skin a bit and maybe remove or change the grip bar handle of scrollbar as well as sync toolbar-/menubar color with titlebar. But all in all its working and the style editor you mentioned seems almost like the good old metathemes gtk2 theme source code.
