Hey y'all. o/
I apologize for asking this since there are other methods out there but, is there a more safe and future-proof way of getting the 9x/Win2000 style to work on Windows? (10/11) My tools revolve around using StartAllBack and BasicThemer. Managed to get a pretty convincing Vista and/or 7 Basic look, with an attempt at XP, but I wanted to go back further. I know there's WindowBlinds but every time I tried that, it doesn't look as good as I want. Plus, I'm not entirely sold on the concept...
There's Windhawk modding and whatnot but I'm afraid I might break something. I just found out about BorderSkin but that thing is broken on modern Windows. I even tried applying a ClassiX-like theme but it doesn't even work. Seems like 11 really did change a lot.
I've attached the closest I've got to having a "Windows 7 Classic" like appearance., which is what I remember best. If there's any tools or something out there I can try out or even make that could result in something like it, then do let me know. No worries if there isn't anything.
Edit: I thought of stating this too late but, I'm leaning more towards emulating it.

A "Safe" method isn't possible on both (unless you mean just enabling classic with no mods). Especially not on 11 because of Microsoft actively breaking stuff that is used in classic theme (most recent addition is the menu bar not showing up in 11 24h2).

For now, the best way to get the classic theme is to follow this method. However, if you want a Windows 7 style taskbar and explorer, there are some differences in the way of configuration, I will tell you about it tomorrow. (personally I use a Windows 95/NT4 style explorer coupled with a Windows 7 style taskbar). On the other hand, it is not possible to guarantee that the real classic theme is totally safe. But normally, the risk of having to reinstall Windows is almost non-existent.

I've seen that method before and was trying to follow it but it didn't work. Later figured out I wasn't using ExplorerPatcher. I've been used to using StartIs/AllBack for so long, I just default back to it every time I try to use it. Hence why I asked if there's ways to emulate it. Like how I did it on Windows 10 one time with visual styles.
Feel free to post that Win7 configuration whenever. I'm not here all that often so no rush.
