Kinda odd for a first post but eh, been having issues and none of what I found worked so far. At least not fully.
I've been feeling heavily nostalgic lately. So, I made my Windows 11 look like Windows Vista while not trying to modify any system files. I even managed to get the basic theme all up and running w/ Basic Themer. However, there's one little problem that does tend to bug me.
Whenever an application opens out of focus, say Vegas or Firefox for example, it doesn't automatically apply. Same if the application was already maximized.
I know there's modifications like BasicTheme2-detours and 3, 4, 5, etc. But, those tend to just run without the menus nor the ability to whitelist apps like the ones that come with Windows so that they don't break. They even cease operation shortly after running. Must be Windows Security Essentials or that I missed something.
Is there any other side-build of BasicThemer that does what I need it to do? Or, can someone make a slight adjustment to the already existing program so that it can run automatically with unfocused windows? I would do it myself, but I have zero experience when it comes to developing such applications. ^^'

I think BasicThemer5 might work, though it does not have the detours library in it so things such as Aero Wizards will not display properly. If that doesn't work, then try BasicThemer3, which explicitly says that it works for unfocused windows.

Edit: Nevermind, you mentioned those 2 already, but I actually think BasicThemer2-detours will work, I tried it before and it does seem to have the menu for whitelisting apps. Either way, most apps will not break under BasicThemer2-detours since it makes apps think that DWM is off, so things such as Aero Wizards will work. I think that even metro apps will work, but since I never use them and tend to delete them (including the metro settings app) I have not tested that out. You should just whitelist them as well using Windows Defender or whatever, so they will still run and be ignored. These kinds of programs tend to be false-positives for antivirus software.

Detours did for a little bit, but it keeps on getting deleted because I probably forget to run it as an administrator. And even then, Windows sees it as "malware."

You should just whitelist a folder and put BasicThemer2-detours in it. Then, it won't be deleted instantly. Also, it's just a false-positive, it isn't malware.
