r3dfox is able to use aero. At start was a project to use on vista or 7, but it's working on 10 or 11, and dwmblurgrass.

I'm starting to get really angry at Microsoft what the hell did they do with Windows 10 LTSC IoT 2021 the Live Booted Linux Mint can't delete files I want to modify files but the garbage OS won't let me! Its pissing me the heck off I've been trying everything within Windows but nope I need you guys to help me. Sometimes Linux Mint would be able to access and modify files within the Windows 10 File System that was the time I had a Windows 10 Pro VM I seriously need some help with this crap. I got many things open and nothing works please give me a solution to this piece of crap!

A TrustedInstaller command prompt should delete pretty much anything, as long as it isn't in use

I did a bunch of CMD stuff to take ownership and remove read only stuff in windows using CMD but I thought that would be the end of it and I could than use Mint to modify Windows.

I just want to remove the read-only file system bullshit so Linux Mint won't have trouble at all modifying the OS from the outside for what I'm gonna do.

A TrustedInstaller command prompt should delete pretty much anything, as long as it isn't in use Wait how would I run as TustedInstaller is there like some 3rd party program that will let me run as nt/authority? Its so stupid how you can use Linux Mint to modify Windows 8.1 files but not Windows 10 or 11 like WTF this is just either some Microsoft BS DRM or they must really care about our safety or something like that!? If I have to guess it would be the ladder indeed Microsoft is real BS with Windows 10 and 11 I've been trying to modify a Windows 10 VM for hours now with Linux Mint but nothing no even an inch.

I basically want Windows 10 to look like Windows 8.1 on an extract 1:1 scale with every apasct of the Desktop UI from Windows 8.1 even down to the Taskbar Buttons for opened Programs that are currently open on your Taskbar I hate the way Windows 10's looks and I despise Startisback++ and StartAllback just to get that experience back. I want to replace all the necessary UI files in Windows 10's with Windows 8.1 it just comes down to that. That is why I wanted Linux Mint in this.

It has long been known that a DWM from another version cannot be ported to another version. Even between versions of Windows 10, this is not possible. Restore the Windows 10 DWM by going directly to the vhd disk of the virtual machine.
Anyway, it is uDWM.dll that manages the appearance of DWM. There are several ways to patch it. Dulappy developed this tool (you will have to wait for updates to make it user-friendly). Dulappy also wrote Windhawk mods that I listed here. And it is also possible to patch uDWM directly, I wrote a script to automate the change under Windows 10 21H2 (it probably works under 22H2).

One of the first objectives of this forum (and of this community, it is also the case in the Discord servers) is precisely this one. For some files (like for example DWM) it is not possible to port them from one version to another... For others it is possible but by porting them. And for some others (like Notepad) there is no need for porting, it works directly. When I have time, I will be able to give you a summary of the current status for each element of Windows 8.1.

Why can't older DWM be used on newer versions of Windows as long as you have the necessary files for it? Stupid Microsoft, UI Team, Windows Devs Team, Evil CEO Satya Nadella. 3. Thanks I think I will try those. 4. Look at these images it was far easier to use Ubuntu to modify, create, or delete files on Windows 10 than it was using Linux Mint which is not good for Windows 10. I replaced all of the UI components from dlls and muis and exe files and it broke Windows 10 on boot up lol. It broke after I replaced all the UI files I had from my folder that I uploaded to the archive.org into Windows 10.

I don't use Discord plus I never will so you can give me the details about Windows 8.1 Shell elements going into Windows 10 I choose Windows 8.1 for 2 reasons 1 because its closer to Windows 10 2 I thought it would be more compatible than 7's. Yeah that is what I hate about Windows is that you can't just hot swap the parts of older versions into newer versions. Yeah I would like it if you could please me and eliVANCE would like to here summary of the current status for each element of Windows 8.1.

Yeap I can confirm that colors between Windows 8 and 10 are different so if you take Windows 8's Default Wallpaper and you have automatic colors enabled Windows 10's will be different from Windows 8's color I really hate that. Like I really hate the way Windows 10 and 11 treat and handle color, accent colors, automatic colors in general the behavior and the way they look suck here is an example in image form that I'm talking about. Windows 8: Windows 10:And this is the same wallpaper btw I really despise Windows 10 and 11 I like anything that is Windows 8.1 and below otherwise I want to go on Linux. Modern Windows sucks and its shit!
