No, you do not need to start ms-settings, you just need to move the ApplicationFrameHost up.

thanks, some way every time the pc starts, get ExplorerFrame.dll and replace it with c:\windows\system32\ExplorerFrame.dll because each new update it is replaced so doing a command that every time it starts replacing it would be good another thing that would need some command is to disable ribbon that also with each new update it is activated would have to do each boot something that changes to disable ribbon would have how ?

Explorer Patcher has a function to disable ribbon. OldNewExplorer as well.

This does not remove the ribbon, it only minimizes it.

Hello! Unfortunately I've made win update. Thought it will be just 22H2 but there was smthng more - many bad things from upcoming 23H2. :/ Beware of October last update! Damn - all was great before, I was on 21H2, and now I screwed it. Anyone here with EP / classic theme (by anixx's recipe) + 22H2 22621.2428? edit 2 The problem is desk2k.cpl - I can run it but after click on 'Appearance' desk2k is freezing. So it is not possible to change anything. edit 3 Hooray! There is solution, desk2k.cpl works now and I could finally choose and apply the beauty 'Windows 2000' scheme. I replaced two newly installed rundll32.exes by those two I found in Windows.old [10.0.22000.653] (both places, respectively: c:\Windows\SysWOW64\rundll32.exe and c:\Windows\System32\rundll32.exe).

aldon I think I understood the problem; the new ProcessExplorer contains "dark theme" support normally reserved for UWP apps. If I switch the theme to "dark", the menus become dark. So you this is another sh*t from Microsoft, since "mode" could (and should) be just a visual style. That's how Windows XP worked. I think we need to find a way to break the light/dark mode API in the programs concerned, or even better, in the whole system. EDIT : Knowing that is not the only reason, because the menus are not only the wrong color, but also too large, which I think is awful. Hello! Any fix for that? :/ Maybe Windhawk could help somehow?

Unfortunately, I haven't found any solutions; I only see the possibility of using an old version. It is indeed probable that Windawk is capable of providing a solution; If a developer goes through this, maybe they can look into this.

After some struggles with simpleclassictheme I decided to give this method a go again. In the past it never fully worked for me but I was so close to getting it to work. Some things have changed since I last tried this method(windhawk added, openshell installer with patched dll added) and now it seems to work flawlessly. I used the deskcpl version from simpleclassictheme to set my preferred theme and all was good. Well almost all, file explorer didn't seem to work. When I restarted explorer it worked once and after that it got stuck while starting. Also explorer wasn't using classic theme. There was some discussion in this thread if "Launch folder windows in a seperate process" in folder options should be checked or not but for me it should not be checked.I am using windows LTSC 191206-1406
Update: 1 slight problem, it seems there should be a delay somewhere, I have to restart explorer once after booting to have explorer use the classic theme

Neither with Windhawk nor with Classicthemetray methods you need any delays. With Windhawk method you will still have some dialogs themed.

Hello. Firstly, thanks to OP and everyone involved in creating these scripts/tools. I have some issue while trying on fresh Win 10 Entreprise 2021 LTSC (21H2 19044.1288) in Virtualbox.
I followed steps #1-15, (used windhawk for #2-6). Using the pre-patched Open Shell setup. (Tried to re-launch the various .reg several times)
Windhawk scripts :
Here are the issues :
After a normal startup : Case 1, and more rarely Case 2
If i log-out and re-log : always Case 2
Case 1 : Classic theme not applied on Explorer (and taskbar ?)
Case 2 :
Classic theme seems to be applied on more stuff, but taskbar buttons have no label, right click on taskbar have no labels. Weird black border around taskbar. Explorer looks buggy (white part)
Thanks 🙏

Your 2nd screenshot indicates that most compatibility fixes are not active. Most fixes can be obtained with ExplorerPatcher or Windawk.
Next, there appears to be a problem in the scheduled tasks, as case 2 should still occur if they were configured correctly.
Can you send me your planned tasks in XML format and the contents of the userinit registry key ?

I must have missed something Were the steps actually required ? These steps are required for Classic ThemeTray, another way to enable classic theme. Since Windhawk doesn't involve ClassicThemeTray, those steps will be quite useless.
Regarding the problems you're experiencing, you need more scripts to solve those. Regarding taskbar context menus, the mod you have installed doesn't affect. There is another mod that eradicates immersive menus system-wide and thus more preferable. Explorer looks buggy because you haven't disabled ribbon, there are various ways to do that. If you want to stick with Windhawk, there's this mod, it does way more than that, but disabling ribbon is part of its functionality. Taskbar buggy appearance is something i haven't encountered, but i patchad OpenShell myself so i have no idea how using pre-patched install affects things.

ExplorerPatcher also can disable Ribbon.

It seems, you do not have Explorer Patcher configured properly. You need these options from EP: * Classic theme mitigations * Disable Ribbon * Use SysListView32 * Disable Immersive menus Most of your issues in case 2 can be solved with EP.
