As it turns out, disabling dwm in newer versions of Windows 10 causes a black screen. This black screen is caused by sihost.exe. The only way to get a working basic theme or classic theme without dwm.exe running is to suspend sihost.exe before killing dwm. However, this breaks explorer so you have to sacrifice explorer to not have dwm running. Would there be any way to remove the black screen?
ʇǝǝๅ ftw: I really don't get why people find 1909+ a PITA. Most of my setups always run the latest version of Windows because I use a bit of it's functionality (mainly WSL2, the UWP notes app and better Dark Mode support). I've never had any big problems with it

ʇǝǝๅ ftw: (continuing) that caused me to not want to have Classic Theme on these setups. Can someone explain to me where the bottlenecks in 1909+ are for them and why those bottlenecks are problematic?
