Thats correct. After installing StartIsBack with the utility you have to restart it in order to use the options. About uninstalling, you just have to remove the following and files: C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\sct.cmd C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\SimpleClassicTheme.exe which you can just make into a batch file: @echo off del C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\sct.cmd del C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\SimpleClassicTheme.exe You also have to remove OpenShell and StartIsBack++. To be sure you can also remove the following reg key: HKCU\Software\SimpleClassicTheme At this point the application would have no knowledge that it has ever been installed on the system. Also, can you give me a way to reproduce it next time? This time I knew but if it was a bug that I didn't know about, a way to reproduce would be nice .

Because Classic Theme doesn't have window animations

Because Classic Theme doesn't have window animations Window animations do not depend on theme, they work just fine with any theme, including WinClassic.

Oh, I don't remember the Classic theme having window animations. Anyways, I'll change it onto an option.

Hey there, I'm still having some issues that are basically identical to the issue I had before.
I tried running your reg file that disables windows defender, it doesn't seem to have done anything as windows defender is still running, icon is still in the system tray and it's running; Plus it warns me about running your exe. I made sure to restart after running the reg file.
When I ignore defender's warning and run the exe anyway, click enable, the same issue happens where the spacing between the icons changes but it's still the metro theme.
Earlier I also had an issue where StartisBack and Open Shell were conflicting where both icons were visible imposed on top of one another for the start button.

Defender IS disabled because if it wasn't it wouldn't let you download it, the warning you saw was SmartScreen which is no problem. Though I have 1 problem. Can you show some screenshots? It's hard to know what's happening without them. Damn I should really make a bug report format

I just noticed Explorer using the Classic theme in the main post image. How'd you accomplish that? Did you open a second instance of Explorer?

Souper Use the tutorial linked in the main post! namensloser I know why you are asking that (saw that video too) but I hate Vista. Period.
Edit: Souper I forgot to note that I enabled the "Open folder windows in a seperate process".

- Changed boot-circuitry so that you can actually use the start menu shortcut
- Open settings app just before enabling with taskbar in order to increase chances of metro working
