Hi,
Does anyone know why anti-virus software thinks this contains a Trojan? Is it because it contains a Trojan :-),
Thanks

Thanks It's a false positive. ClassicTheme.exe is not malicious. "Safe" would be a stretch, but that's due to its incomplete state, not any kind of malice.

Thanks, I've done that but now when I run classicTheme.exe, all buttons are greyed out except the 'Enable Classic Theme now' button. The greyed out buttons are 'Uninstall', 'Configure Theme' and 'Path Internet Explorer'. I think I need to click 'Configure Theme' next but can't. Please can someone advise what I've done wrong? Thanks

Thanks You're not doing anything wrong. Just hit the 'Enable Classic Theme now' button, exit, and restart ClassicTheme.exe. It should now start with the classic theme, and the other options should now be available. Any new processes you open should also have the classic theme as well. If you'd like to automatically enable the classic theme when you turn on your computer, rename ClassicTheme.exe to ClassicThemeA.exe, and set it to run at startup, or when the user logs on.

Thanks, I tried that. I clicked the 'Enable Classic Theme now' button, exited ClassicTheme.exe and restarted ClassicTheme.exe but the only option still enabled was the 'Enable Classic Theme now' button.
It's a Windows 10 version 1709 VM.
Do I need to do anything else?
Thanks,

Yeah, I'm seeing that too. However, if you're trying to change system colors & metrics, you can still run deskn.cpl from the src folder.

Clicking Enable Classic Theme does nothing; I've restarted the program, logged out and back in, run as administrator, nothing works. Using Windows 8.1.

Try renaming the program to ClassicThemeA.exe and run. This should enable the Classic theme silently. I tried that as well, added it to run at startup, never did anything. A couple days ago I did the theme section user rights method using OSR Object Viewer and it worked albeit with a hideous taskbar, but after restarting, all applications were classic themed but explorer, its title bars, and the taskbar weren't. I figured the answer was to replace explorer so I tried the ReactOS one built for Windows 10 and wasn't happy with it, I tried the wrapper that installs Windows 7's explorer in 8 and it crashed at start, and after removing it, the classic theme I had set was reverted and now the theme section is missing from the object viewer. For extra info, I tried the old version of ClassicTheme.exe made by IbmPad and the enable button still did nothing, but the install button would successfully apply the theme but would crash explorer after flickering the theme on and off the taskbar right after logon.

I tried that as well, added it to run at startup, never did anything. It should be run with elevated rights. On some installations the service it creates in Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services has to be deleted and program restarted in order for it to work properly
