I confirm, in Windows 10 21H2 (and all previous versions that I know of) the show desktop button displays a line, but no icon. In Classic theme as well?

I thought of another thing.
- Displaying the jump list menu (it already appears when right clicking without issues) when hovering over a taskbar item (as it happened in Windows 7 under classic theme). Currently, it shows the window preview which is always bugged in classic theme. I know we can disable this with 7+TT, but it's still something that would be nice to have for those of us who liked that functionality.

* A mod that patches an UIFILE in shellstyle.dll so to remove the commandbar from Explorer windows.
On theme's ShellStyle.dll in UIFILE search "FolderBand". There below </FolderBand> xml class add this <Element padding="rect(0rp,0rp,0rp,-128rp)"/>. CommandBar is gone and also might hide menubar.

deskn.cpl, but as a windhawk script, it should allow to add your own theme, import, export and allow a per user configuration would also be nice as well to make sure it reapplies the metrics on logon/windhawk startup deskn.cpl doesn't have command line neither does "New classic theme configurator" deskn.cpl often freezes when applying and "New classic theme configurator" makes the caption buttons look like they're the same shape as the basic theme ones

* Fix for Ribbon UI positioning in Classic theme (the gap above the ribbon strip). Pretty sure you can already fix this by porting UIRibbon from 8032 and using the DWM Unextend Frames mod.

* A md[sic] that fixes the Control Panel and Win10 Task Manager UIFILEs to be compatible with Classic theme. God please no. Just modify taskmgr.exe.mun.

This is coming from the person who has made most of the Windhawk mods that this community finds useful, so you can take my word.

I don't think editing system files or taking something from ancient builds is better than having fixed it via WindHawk.

It's only a bad idea when you like to update your modded Windows. Which I always consider a bad idea.

It's only a bad idea when you like to update your modded Windows. Which I always consider a bad idea. It is a bad idea if
1. You want update the system either to a new build or just with a cumulative update 2. You want to restore the system with sfc /scannow or in-place reinstall 3. If you want to install a system on a new computer and do not have the modified files under your hand, so you have to modify them manually instead of taking the mod from the repository 4. To modify system files you need additional third-party software 5. Some system files (like task manager) are protected against modification, so that you have to disable the driver signature check 6. Taking files from obscure old builds can be impossible especially if you need files for specific locale.
