I think you should export some other languages instead of just english since other people like me uses other languages. I'm not saying add every translation atleast add some couple ones like fr-FR. (French)

I started this project like a month ago, seeing Microsoft ruining the good old control panel more and more with every update was what started it. Currently i managed to restore Personalization,Windows Update,Display, Notification Tray icons,Default Apps(only visual, half of the page is broken still),Performance Info and tools and its score that can also redirect you to that page in system CPL. The pages open inside CPL without needing to open in an external window(some applet settings still do that unfortunately).Tested in both Windows 10 1903 and Windows 10 22H2(not tested for 11).I am thinking about making a guide too but cant guarantee anything for now. UPDATE 22/8/2023 Here is the first version of this pack. If you find something that does not work and not included in any readme file please notify me. www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/x62150xgald6r6mfrklmh/CPL-Restoration.zip?rlkey=vtkjjt8q4e8b4mbuo40b4dsof&dl=0I am from the UK, how do i set my locale to en-us in order to use these?

I guess you already know about this, but using sud.dll and the MUI from 1703 will restore a barely working "Default Programs" control panel page. The file type association page actually works to change the default program, even though everything shows as "Unknown program". Additionally, you can restore ComputerDefaults.exe and the MUI for a classic Set Program Access and Computer Defaults page.

You can take the Windows 7 Style from the Windows 7 K iso and replace that instead.

Any version of the dll between 1507-1703 will work. 8 dlls can also restore the page but it will only launch a prompt telling you to go to settings.

On the next release i will also include which exact version of windows is the file from so people can grab them manually and use it.

So stay tuned for the next update

is it done by patching individual DLLs or a single DLL that controls all the control panel stuff? The buttons on sidebar is stored in the corresponding applet dll. Also for fixing you need to be patching bunch of dlls unfortunately and some code inside the dlls is changed so much that its not possible to restore default behavior via basic hex editing.

Also for fixing you need to be patching bunch of dlls unfortunately and some code inside the dlls is changed so much that its not possible to restore default behavior via basic hex editing. For example i will explain it using the personalization cpl sidebar. While Taskbar and navigation calls the function "CControlPanelNavLinks::AddLinkControlPanel" to launch or navigate to a CPL applet, display and ease of access calls the function "CControlPanelNavLinks::AddLinkShellEx" which just runs the ms-settings commands on the 2nd attachment for redirection. If the link you gonna use already uses the old method its childs play to fix but if it uses the second function it needs to be patched by someone who knows what he is doing. Attachments:
