New guy here! Am I in the right place to ask about "deskn.cpl"? If I want to use this CPL outside of SCT, how do I manually install this in the Control Panel?

Thanks for the link! Problem is their link to Microsoft's GUID generator is broken. I'll have to see if I can find it someplace else.

Thank you for the guidGen.7z file. Two bits of information about GuidGen.exe: 1) It's fairly easy to find with an internet search, 2) It looks like GuidGen.exe versions haven't changed since about 1998.
I have managed to run the 'deskn.cpl' application and play with it, but I haven't saved anything yet. I have a couple of questions:
1. Where are the new settings saved? I'd guess they are written someplace in the Registry. Is so, do you know where in the Registry?
2) How do I link the new 'deskn.cpl' settings with Classic Theme settings (e.g. "Open Shell", "OldNewExplorer", etc., but not SCT (yet))?

Current settings are stored and can be edited here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Colors & HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\Colors & HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics. 2. Settings: Start 'deskn.cpl' > Appearance tab > Scheme: Select "@themeui.dll,-854". This scheme is the default settings for Windows 2000. I can set some of the settings I like such as the colors for "Inactive Title Bar". Then when I click the "Save As..." button it asks me for a new scheme name. Haven't saved it yet because I don't know where it gets saved.
Just a note: On my Win 10 Pro there are five of the "@themeui.dll, -85x" schemes located in about eight Registry keys.
But all this may be moot if I can't use the scheme in my current Classic Theme attempt using "Open Shell" and "OldNewExplorer". Am I correct in assuming that if I install SCT that the Display Properties is then used?
If I install SCT, will it 'destroy' my current "Open Shell" and "OldNewExplorer" setting?

Sorry if this is not related but this seems to be the topic for questions related to deskn.cpl. Whenever I change a setting with it, then either click apply or OK, it just freeezes and becomes unresponsive. Using Windows 10. Anyone know how to fix this? I guess I don't need deskn.cpl, but it sure is covenient.
