No. Use DISM instead (It's included in Win10). With dism you should mount the image to a directory and from there you can remove whatever you want! and what command?

No. Use DISM instead (It's included in Win10). With dism you should mount the image to a directory and from there you can remove whatever you want! and what command? This will mount the image:
mkdir C:\wim_mount DISM /Mount-Image /imagefile:{path to the wim file} /Index:1 /MountDir:C:\wim_mount\
Then, you can edit the image in the C:\wim_mount\ directory When you're done do this:
DISM /Commit-Image /MountDir:C:\wim_mount DISM /Unmount-image /MountDir:C:\wim_mount {/Commit OR /Discard}

I know there was a reg file included with the classic theme, however this seems to only work for a short while until it magically turns itself back on. Is there a correct way with group policies to keep it off forever

1. Start Services.msc as user System or TrustedInstaller 2. Disable it as any other service.

There's a lot of options. A lot.
First of the All In One solutions
Does almost everything for you Has literally almost all important tweaks for classic theme Currently broken as hell. 1.8.0 (published later today or tomorrow) will fix everything though
Pretty much also does everything
The taskbar is not fully classic
Now to the scripting parts. I'll divide this into 2 sections, Theme (how windows look) and Taskbar (how the taskbar looks)
Theme
Has command line (/enable, /disable, /configure) A bit slow and quite big (11,8MB) Again, currently broken
Can be called from batch but is not good for scripting You need the entire PS6 package You need to first install the module bla bla bla Huge compared to the other options Slow. Really slow.
Taskbar
Works out of the box, no installations A lot of tweaks for the taskbar aren't compatible with it yet Can be enabled/disabled really fast
Slow Complicated to set up

Since nobody really bother to give you a win98 startmenu i will give you my win95 startmenu for use with openshell unpack themes and skins use the openshell settings and open win95.xml which is under the themes folder Important you must have the themes folder under openshell here you go win95.rar (95.47 KB) Has a working folder options in settings to match with the real win95

Seems that way , it never got an alpha/beta release the complicated part must been making it skinnable for non programmers

Hi powerplayer, First of all thanks for your beautiful win95 startmenu. I have two questions: Is it possible to hide/remove the "Windows95"-caption from the main menu? Changing the .xml or .skin from your theme didn't work, the same inside openshell. Maybe changing the width of the main menu? Second question, if I choose less than 7 items (small icons selected) in the main menu I get empty space below the search box. The less items the more space. Is it possible to reduce the height of the main menu to fit to less items? www.directupload.net/file/d/5870/8gx9xz2i_png.htmThanks again for offering your nice start menu! Best wishes

Changing the .xml or .skin from your theme didn't work, the same inside openshell. Maybe changing the width of the main menu? i believe you need to open the skin file with reshacker and replace the caption or use photoshop to color it the same like the system color , what are you trying to do here??? Second question, if I choose less than 7 items (small icons selected) in the main menu I get empty space below the search box. The less items the more space. Is it possible to reduce the height of the main menu to fit to less items? I believe you need to dig into the settings of open shell pick customize start menu and try to get rid of the separator underneath then save it as its own xml at the backup feature that way u can switch in between them easily Thanks again for offering your nice start menu! Best wishes Thanks for the kind words i also made a megathread on classictheme programs here www.winclassic.net/thread/328/classic-taskbar-programs-win10-linksand www.winclassic.net/thread/462/classicshell-full-themes-megathread though you need to edit the xml in those themes to point to my new folder hierarchy , i will upload an openshell version of them later on ... These 2 threads are under constant updates due to news and changes on winclassic.

Hello, I don't know if this is a great place to post this but I'll give it a shot. This isn't related to the actual Classic theme, instead the "High Contrast" theme in Win10. I use it because of it's embedded customizability and simplicity. I noticed that the taskbar buttons on the left and right sides have these vertical separators in between them, which I find annoying. If anyone knows what element of the .msstyle I need to change to remove these, I would greatly appreciate it. Here is an example: link

Start9 is yet another case of overambition. Other examples include Mac OS Copland.
