Fun fact regarding bblean on Windows 11: it's the only replacement shell program I've found so far that will A) actually run on x64 Windows 11, and B) actually draw the desktop background. (Seriously: xoblite just passes through to the windows shell which isn't loaded resulting in a black background; older blackboxen don't load, nobody else is making shell replacements.) It's incredibly minimalist as well, and also supports automatically running programs that are in your start menu's startup folder. The obvious course of action: drop a shortcut to that x64 build of progman.exe and envision the future if computing technology just stopped in 1993. I've been playing with it off and on for about a week now.
All that being said, if anybody else has any other shell replacement options I'm listening - I'm always looking for other options.

According to your screenshot, you don't use the classic theme; if you don't want to, you can easily use it. As for other alternative shells, there are LiteStep, CairoShell, ReactOSExplorer and progman x64, which now supports the desktop wallpaper. In addition, it is possible to use add-ons. For example, PowerPro ( groups.io/g/PowerPro ) is great to use in this situation. |

Regarding CairoShell, I kind of forgot it exists. I like that it gives me a vaguely mac-ish vibe, however it's even more limited in the customization department than regular windows. Fair's fair though, it does render a desktop background when run in shell mode.
Regarding ReactOSExplorer and Progman x64: Both suffer from an issue where despite allegedly showing the desktop background, there is no actual attempt at rendering a desktop of any sort, just a vast and infinite void. I'm not sure if this is a "Windows 11" problem or a "my config is eight kinds of jank" issue.

Regarding Litestep, however, I had come to install it; I keep you posted if I ever reinstall it. Afterwards, the problem is that no developer is interested in LiteTep, who, however, has enormous potential. Regarding Cairo, I know, it is not the most personalizable (no the most efficient, because it is written in managed code). Regarding Progman X64, make sure you use this version : github.com/freedom7341/Progman-x64/releases/tag/v0.0.3For Reactos Explorer, I must test are use as shell. |

Did you tried SharpE too? i tested all seems working too. |

Did you tried SharpE too? i tested all seems working too. I've tested SharpE at various points on Windows 8.1 and 10. It works yet it breaks the file explorer. |
